About the Artwork |
Artist: Charles John Watson RE (1846-1927) was an English painter and etcher of a wide variety of subjects. Born in Norwich, he was a medal winner at Chicago’s International Exhibition, 1893 and in Paris in 1900. He was a founder member of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and Engravers. His landscapes focused mainly on Northern France, Venice and Norfolk.
This beautiful etching is titled Marsh Farm, signed and dated, 1915, in the plate. It is also signed in pencil below the image ‘Charles J Watson first plate’. I think it likely that Marsh Farm is in Norfolk.
The etching is framed in a dark wood frame (good condition with a couple of small marks), but needs remounting as there is a mark on the matt and the etching is not laid completely flat. The image is in excellent condition with no obvious age toning.
£80; Postage and Packing extra (at cost). I can remove it from the frame to reduce cost and glass breaking risk. Payment by PayPal, BT or Sterling Cheque please. Email me directly please if you have requests for more photographs etc. as upload space is limited here and their email system does not inform me of an email arriving on site felicity.ausden@googlemail.com Also remember to check your spam filter for my reply!
