This XXLarge Woodland Spiritual style painting is acrylic oil on canoe canvas on and over a wooden frame. This is my presentation of the importance of the sweat lodge to our peoples, it equivocally represents the church to us. We attend, we sweat out the impurities, we cleanse and in the process of that suffering we surrender ourselves to a vision and that is that meaning of the appearance of that spirit bear.
In that vision from my experience, I saw a Mother earth represented by the woman, and that sweatlodge her pregnant belly. As we all in the last round of four rounds of lodge ceremony, are ready to be reborn into the world, we have to see where we have come from, and the ways we need to go in our journey in this life. Those opportunities represented by the spiritual paths appearing in the darkness of the tree's to either side. The root at the bottom is only a metaphor for that natural medicines that grow around us.
