Dwayne Frost is my government name, you know for record keeping and putting onto ID cards.LOL Dwayne Frost *Gitchi Manitou Muskwa* is from his home town Hearst, Ontario, Canada. His Family’s community is Pagwa River, Ontario, Canada. His Reservation is Constance Lake, Ontario. He is a self taught artist who started both painting and carving about 20 years ago. Early in his Career he spent a short time painting with the late Norval Morriseau "The Copper Thunderbird" and enjoyed sharing a friendship with the late Mr. Roy Thomas. From a military family, he has travelled the world. He has developed his unique art style working and studying through the years with extended family and friends from the many northern first nations in northern Ontario, Canada. He further developed his art style through painting and carving from what he studied through his friends and family in Sandy Lake First Nation. He has returned to his traditional beliefs and culture and shares the many legends, stories and his experiences through his artwork, so that, they may not be lost but recorded in some way for future generations to see, experience and learn from.
Dwayne has for the last 5 years been involved with the World Famous Karl May Festival in Radebeul, Germany. Dwayne has been involved in creating monumental "Woodland" style paintings on the side of a 90 meter cliff, Incidentally declared "Europes" largest Cliff side paintings. His paintings and carvings have been exhibited in a formal Exhibition at the Karl May Festival at the Steigenberger Park Hotel. His artwork became an overnight sensation. Dwayne is the only living First Nations Artist to have his work purchased by the World Famous Karl May Museum! Today, Dwayne enjoys his prominence in the European art scene for Woodland Art. Dwayne has his artwork in galleries, collections and in Museums in Canada, Europe, Russia, Asia, the Middle East and in the United States. |
